Committee Appointed by NCTA Board Chairman Britt;
Executive Search Firm to be Retained

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Glenn Britt, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and Chairman and CEO of Time Warner Cable, today announced the formation of a special search committee to identify a successor to NCTA President & CEO Robert Sachs.

Sachs, NCTA President & CEO since August 1999, said last month that he would not seek an extension of his current NCTA contract but had agreed to serve as NCTA President & CEO until a hand-off of responsibilities to a successor can be successfully accomplished.

The search committee will be co-chaired by Robert Miron, Chairman & CEO, Advance/Newhouse Communications and Decker Anstrom, President & COO, Landmark Communications Inc. Other members appointed were Nick Davatzes, President & CEO, A&E Television Networks; Ron Duncan, President, GCI Cable, Inc.; Jim Robbins, President & CEO, Cox Communications; Brian Roberts, Chairman & CEO of Comcast Corporation; Michael Willner, Vice Chairman & CEO, Insight Communications, and Britt.

"Our goal is for the committee to conduct a thorough search on the Board's behalf and ensure a seamless transition of leadership at NCTA," said Britt.

The first task of the committee will be to retain an executive recruiting firm to assist the committee in identifying and interviewing candidates for the position, Britt said. Britt declined to set any time frame for the search, and said the search committee would take the time necessary to identify the best possible candidates for the Board's consideration.

NCTA is the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States. NCTA represents cable operators serving more than 90 percent of the nation's cable television households and more than 200 cable program networks, as well as equipment suppliers and providers of other services to the cable industry.
