Deadline for CableNET ® Exhibitors Nears

WASHINGTON, DC – On-line registration has opened for The 2005 National Show, the 54th Annual Convention and International Exposition of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), scheduled for April 3-5 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Prospective delegates should visit The National Show Web site, www.thenationalshow.com, to complete the registration process. Those registering by February 11 will save $100 on fees.

The Web site also features details on hotel reservations and travel to San Francisco. NCTA said prospective attendees should book their hotel reservations using The National Show housing block, as participating hotels feature free shuttle bus service, discounts on room rates, and access to show “room drops.” In addition, NCTA has negotiated special fare agreements with select airlines, and information on how to obtain the special fares is available from the Web site.

Meanwhile, the NCTA Convention Committee has chosen “Cable Puts You In Control” as the theme for the 2005 Show, because it communicates the industry's ability to empower consumers to choose the programming and services they want – when, where and on which devices they want them.

“Today, our industry is empowering consumers like never before,” said National Show Chairman Steve Burke, Chief Operating Officer, Comcast Corporation, and President, Comcast Cable Communications. “We have the ability to deliver a broad array of video, voice, and data products and services across multiple platforms, and our customers can choose and configure their favorite media. We're truly putting consumers ‘in control,' which we'll further demonstrate in San Francisco this coming April.”

CableNET® Technology Showcase from CableLabs® Returns to National Show

In other news, the popular CableNET® pavilion will return to the exhibit floor at The 2005 National Show. Co-produced by Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs®) and NCTA, CableNET® will be an "exhibit within an exhibit.”

CableNET®, a 10,000-square-foot exhibit space, will offer the opportunity to see the future of cable technology, with cutting-edge educational and technical demonstrations designed to showcase the products, services, and applications that the cable television industry is capable of delivering to consumers via advanced broadband technology.

CableLabs is soliciting proposals from service/application developers, manufacturers, cable operators, and cable programmers for demonstrations to be considered for possible inclusion in the CableNET® '05 exhibit. The RFP and submittal information can be found at www.cablenet.org. Responses are due no later than December 17, 2004.

Additional, up-to-the-minute information for The 2005 National Show is available via the official web site (www.thenationalshow.com) or from NCTA's Department of Industry Affairs (202/775-3669).
