Walter Kaitz Foundation Provides Grant for Industry-Wide Diversity Employment Survey

March , 30 , 2011

WASHINGTON, D. C. – The Walter Kaitz Foundation announced today that it is providing funding for the execution of an industry-wide survey on diversity being conducted by Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) and the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communication (NAMIC).  This will mark the first time an industry diversity survey will be undertaken jointly by WICT, who oversees the PAR Initiative, and NAMIC who is charged with procuring the AIM (Advancement Investment Measurement) survey.  The results of the combined survey will concentrate on both ethnic and gender diversity in the cable industry.

“This survey will provide important information about where our industry is today in terms of diversity,” said James Assey, Executive Vice President of NCTA.  “To get a full picture of the entire industry, I hope representatives from all MSOs and networks participate fully in the process.”

The joint survey begins on March 31, 2011, and will be conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  SHRM will distribute the combined survey and will independently manage the development of customized data reports for each association.  The findings from the combined surveys will be released in October during cable’s “Diversity Week.”

“We’re happy to have a role in this collaborative achievement by assisting WICT and NAMIC to create a joint, industry-wide survey on diversity,” said David Porter, Executive Director of the Walter Kaitz Foundation.  “It is our hope that this effort can help streamline the survey process while providing the employment data the industry needs to continue strengthening diversity in the cable industry.”
