The Olympic Winter Games begin this week, and NBCUniversal is set to deliver its most expansive Winter Games presentation yet as the world turns its attention to Milan Cortina 2026.
A multi-platform winter games experience
NBCUniversal’s coverage will span broadcast, cable, streaming, and social platforms, giving viewers flexibility in how and where they follow the Games.
Key highlights include:
- Live coverage of the Opening Ceremony on NBC and Peacock, beginning Friday, Feb. 6, from San Siro Stadium in Milan.
- At least five hours of live daytime coverage daily on NBC, featuring the best events as they happen.
- Three hours of nightly primetime coverage, anchored by “Primetime in Milan.”
- USA Network serving as the 24/7 home of Team USA, with additional coverage on CNBC.
- Peacock streaming every sport and event live, including all 116 medal events.
Peacock will once again serve as the central hub, offering live events, full replays, curated highlights, and on-demand access throughout the two-week event.
Beyond traditional viewing, NBCUniversal is also expanding how Olympic stories reach audiences. The company is reviving its creator collective program, partnering with YouTube, Meta, and TikTok, giving creators on-the-ground access to share behind-the-scenes moments, athlete perspectives, and cultural highlights from the Games.
Peacock expands fan-first features
Building on recent Olympics, Peacock is introducing new viewing experiences designed to give fans more control and deeper access to the action.
Select ice hockey and figure skating events will feature Rinkside Live, a curated viewing experience that includes:
- Alternate camera angles, such as Bench Cam for hockey and Coaching Cam for figure skating.
- Behind-the-scenes access and training-focused perspectives.
- A Highlights Hub with vertical video playlists optimized for mobile viewing.
These features are available across Peacock and, for select events, through a Multiview experience on TV and web — allowing fans to follow multiple feeds at once.
Innovation at the core of coverage
NBCUniversal is also leaning into new technology to support storytelling and help viewers navigate the scale of the Games.
The company’s AI-powered Olympic guide, OLI, returns for Milan Cortina 2026 with enhanced features, including:
- Real-time medal counts and event schedules
- Athlete profiles and video highlights
- Direct links that guide viewers to live coverage on NBC and Peacock
OLI will be available across NBCUniversal’s digital platforms, helping fans find what they want to watch, when they want to watch it.
A deep bench of storytellers
NBCUniversal will deploy 84 commentators, analysts, and hosts across the Games — collectively holding 44 Olympic medals — bringing firsthand experience to coverage of events ranging from alpine skiing and snowboarding to hockey, figure skating, and speed skating.
Their expertise will anchor studio programming, live event calls, and digital coverage throughout the two-week competition.
As Milan Cortina 2026 gets underway, NBCUniversal’s coverage highlights how broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms continue to work together to deliver live events on a global scale. For viewers, it means more access, more choice, and more ways to experience the Winter Games as they happen.
