Live TV is Breaking Free

Live TV

It will come as no surprise that technology is dramatically changing how we watch TV. We’ve written about it a few times on this blog precisely because the change is so fundamental. We’re familiar with how on-demand services have changed viewing habits, but what about live TV? Can technology transform live entertainment?

There’s some new information that helps answer that question. In a survey we commissioned from Morning Consult, 44 percent of respondents say they watch live TV on a device other than a television outside their house or apartment at least once a month. That tells us that not only are people using streaming technology to watch live TV, but they’re doing so on the go.

More and more we’re taking our live entertainment with us; on our smartphones, tablets, and laptops. We don’t have to miss the premier of Westworld just because our train was delayed, and we don’t have to miss the Final Four while we wait for our connecting flight.

The future of TV is still unraveling before us, and we can’t wait for what tomorrow will bring for audiences. For more information, check out our page on the future of TV.morningconsult_park_0928
