'Beyond the Battlefield': A+E Networks' Salute to Veterans Day

Veterans Day Flags

As the nation prepares to celebrate Veterans Day this weekend, A+E Networks is gearing up for a series of initiatives and special programming through its flagship channel, The HISTORY Channel,  to commemorate and honor these heroes from across the country.

A Valuable Partnership

This year, A+E Networks has teamed up with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) to support their Veterans Day programming, paying tribute to veterans both past and present. The WWB is sponsoring The HISTORY Channel's Veterans Day programming across all platforms.

Unveiling Military Legacies

One of those specials is the centerpiece of The HISTORY Channel's Veterans Day programming this year, "Beyond The Battlefield," which premieres this Saturday, November 11th, with two one-hour back-to-back episodes.

  • Hosted by Navy veteran Remi Adeleke and executive produced by Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, the program offers an immersive and in-depth look at the United States military using archival footage and interviews with active-duty military members, renowned experts, and historians.
  • The first hour will focus on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and Marine Corps Aviation's history, while the second hour will take viewers to Army Special Operations Forces headquarters at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Long-Term Commitment to Veterans and Military Families

A+E Networks' support for veterans and military families goes beyond Veterans Day. Their cornerstone "Mission to Honor" initiative celebrates the service of veterans and raises awareness about the continued contributions veterans make to society.

  • Through on-air programming, custom vignettes, PSAs, and special activations, they express gratitude to servicemen and servicewomen.
  • A+E Networks' also hosts a Veterans hub at www.veterans.com, providing information about Veterans Day's history, resources, and leading veterans' organizations.

Empowering the Next Generation: 'Take a Veteran to School Day'

Another one of the networks' notable initiatives is "Take a Veteran to School Day," spearheaded by The HISTORY Channel, which encourages schools to connect veterans with young people to share their stories of service and educate them about Veterans Day. This initiative can take various forms, from a simple class visit to an all-school assembly, and offers a wealth of free curriculum resources.

A Gratitude Program: 'Thank a Veteran at Work'

The HISTORY Channel also invites businesses and organizations to participate in "Thank a Veteran at Work," a program that encourages thanking veterans in the workplace. Through various activities, this program serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting veterans who have made significant contributions to our nation and to motivate Americans to learn more about veterans and their service.

Fourth Annual 'Variety Salute to Service' Special

In partnership with Variety, The HISTORY Channel is set to broadcast the fourth annual "Variety Salute to Service" special this Saturday, November 11, and will focus on honoring veterans and military families. Hosted by Marine Corp and Navy veteran Montel Williams, the program will profile extraordinary veterans who continue to give back to their communities and showcase companies and nonprofit organizations that assist veterans in their transition to civilian careers and pursuits.

A+E Networks remains deeply committed to honoring veterans, not only during the Veterans Day season but throughout the year. These efforts are a heartfelt salute to those who have served and continue to contribute to our nation's well-being and prosperity.
