NCTA at MWC Barcelona: Advancing Connectivity, Spectrum, and AI Conversations

The association will engage global leaders on the policies and technologies shaping tomorrow’s networks.

Next week, NCTA – The Internet & Television Association will join global leaders in connectivity, spectrum policy, and innovation at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. As the world’s premier gathering for the mobile and broader telecommunications ecosystem, MWC provides an important opportunity to engage with policymakers, industry leaders, and technology innovators shaping the future of global connectivity.

NCTA’s presence at MWC reflects the association’s continued commitment to advancing high-performance broadband networks, next-generation Wi-Fi, and the responsible integration of AI across communications infrastructure.

As spectrum policy, shared access models, and unlicensed innovation continue to evolve worldwide, NCTA leaders will share perspectives on the U.S. regulatory and policy framework, with a focus on success stories in 6 GHz, broadband deployment, and public-private collaboration.

Engaging in the Ministerial Programme and global policy dialogue

A key focus at MWC will be participation in the Ministerial Programme and engagement with government officials and regulators from around the world. These discussions will focus on expanding connectivity, advancing AI-enabled networks, and on spectrum policy frameworks that foster innovation while protecting critical services.

Discussions will focus on how countries are approaching shared, exclusive, and unlicensed spectrum models – and how today’s policy decisions will shape digital competitiveness, economic growth, and national security tomorrow.

Industry engagement and technology exploration

In addition to participating in the Ministerial Programme, NCTA executives will meet with leading manufacturers and vendors to better understand how they are advancing solutions across shared, exclusive, and unlicensed spectrum domains. These conversations are critical as the ecosystem prepares for future developments in 5G Advanced, next-generation Wi-Fi, AI-enabled network management, and beyond.

Also on the agenda is attendance at key industry forums, including the Smart Airport Summit and the Quantum Technology Summit, to explore how emerging technologies intersect with connectivity infrastructure. The group will also meet with trade associations from other countries to better understand their technology and policy landscapes and to share insights from the U.S. experience.

Cory Gardner speaking at PwC: “The Future of Telecom 2040”

On Monday, March 2, Cory Gardner, President & CEO of NCTA, will participate in PwC’s panel discussion, “The Future of Telecom 2040,” at 4:00 PM at the PwC pavilion. The discussion will explore how connectivity, spectrum strategy, and AI are shaping the long-term future of telecommunications.

The bottom line is that MWC presents a valuable opportunity for NCTA to demonstrate industry and U.S. leadership on key spectrum policy issues while engaging in productive dialogue and forward-looking conversations about the future of connectivity.
