NCTA Extends President & CEO Michael Powell’s Contract

NCTA – The Internet & Television Association has extended the contract of President & CEO Michael Powell for three years. Powell originally joined NCTA in 2011 and serves as the cable industry’s leading advocate, spokesperson, and representative in its relationship with the U.S. Congress, the Administration, the FCC, and other federal agencies. During his tenure so far at NCTA, in addition to tackling some of the most prominent policy issues that the communications and content industries have ever faced, Powell has guided a strategic restructuring and rebranding to modernize NCTA so it remains one of the most effective associations in Washington, D.C.

Powell is former chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), nominated by President Bill Clinton and sworn in on November 3, 1997. He served as a member of the FCC for eight years during which time he was designated its chair by President George W. Bush in January 2001 and continued in that capacity until April 2005.
