The HISTORY Channel is launching a new video series honoring veterans as part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebration.
“Mission To Honor: A 250th Salute To American Veterans” is a new multiplatform initiative created in partnership with the White House and Freedom 250 that will feature first-person stories from veterans spanning World War II through the Global War on Terror.
Beginning this spring, the series will roll out monthly across HISTORY’s linear, digital and social platforms, building toward a one-hour primetime documentary event premiering on Veterans Day 2026.
Honoring Veterans Across Generations
The initiative will feature short-form profiles focused on veterans’ personal stories of service, leadership and sacrifice, with each installment introduced by a recorded message from President Trump.
Featured veterans include servicemembers from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the War on Terror, including several Medal of Honor recipients.
“For more than 30 years, honoring and telling the stories of the men and women who bravely served our nation has been central to The HISTORY Channel’s mission, and through these deeply personal stories and presidential tributes, we are pleased to partner with the White House to create a unifying national moment of gratitude during this historic milestone,” A+E Global Media President & Chairman Paul Buccieri said.
Expanding HISTORY’s Military Storytelling
The project builds on HISTORY’s longstanding focus on military history and veteran storytelling through documentaries, nonfiction series and historical specials.
Alongside the monthly profiles, the initiative will include community activations at military bases and schools nationwide through HISTORY’s “Take a Veteran to School Day” program. The campaign will ultimately culminate in a one-hour documentary special featuring autobiographical “time capsules” from veterans who served across multiple generations of American conflicts.
As networks continue developing programming tied to America’s 250th anniversary, “Mission To Honor” highlights television’s ongoing role in documenting personal stories connected to pivotal moments in the nation’s history.
