America’s Broadband Networks Continue to Grow: The Midwest Pt. 7

America’s cable broadband providers continue to extend their advanced networks to every community across the country.

As America targets efforts towards connecting every community to robust broadband, cable providers continue to do what they have always done: build out their networks to reach as many Americans as possible.

With network expansions continuing to happen nationwide, here are a few more examples of projects that work towards the national goal of connecting every American. To learn about other projects highlighted in previous blogs, be sure to check out NCTA.com.

Indiana

Comcast has connected more than 4,600 homes and businesses across Bartholomew, Carroll, Fayette, Hamilton, Johnson, Marshall and Morgan counties through nearly 550 miles of new fiber, as part of a multi-million-dollar expansion in partnership with the state’s broadband grant program. The project brings reliable, high-speed internet to previously unserved and underserved communities.

Charter has expanded its fiber broadband network to more than 2,900 additional homes and businesses in Clark County, bringing gigabit-speed service to previously unserved and underserved areas.

Iowa

Mediacom has completed multi-gig and symmetrical speed upgrades in Cedar Rapids, expanding enhanced broadband service to more than 92,000 homes and businesses across the city. The upgrades leverage the company’s existing fiber-rich network to deliver faster speeds and improved reliability.

Minnesota

Midco has begun construction on a $1.5 million fiber network in Janesville that will connect more than 1,250 homes and businesses. The project will deliver multi-gig speeds through 19 miles of new fiber to support residents, businesses and community institutions.

Missouri

Mediacom has begun launching multi-gig and symmetrical speed broadband services in Jefferson City, upgrading its fiber-powered network with a neighborhood-by-neighborhood rollout expected to be completed later this year.

Charter has expanded its fiber broadband network to more than 2,000 additional homes and businesses in Jackson County, including areas near Kansas City, Independence and Blue Springs. The expansion brings gigabit-speed service to previously unserved and underserved communities.

Comcast is expanding its network to connect more than 4,200 homes and businesses in Adrian, Archie and Butler, bringing multi-gig, symmetrical internet service to these communities for the first time. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.

Wisconsin

Midco has completed a $16 million fiber network in New Richmond, connecting approximately 6,500 homes and businesses through 110 miles of infrastructure. The project brings multi-gig symmetrical internet service to the entire community.
