“I applaud Chairman Walden and Rep. Clarke for calling upon the FCC to study the impact of the FCC’s Set-Top Box NPRM on minority programmers. Rep. Clarke, a stalwart champion of promoting minority program diversity and ownership, has consistently raised this issue with the FCC. I share the congresswoman’s frustration that the FCC’s intent to fast-track the proposal is dismissive of her concerns based purely upon supposition and not facts. Joining forces with Chairman Walden, who has consistently focused on the importance of cost/benefit analysis at the FCC, represents a strong bipartisan statement that the FCC’s proposal requires more careful study, given the potentially significant, negative impact on minority programmers and consumer privacy.”
