Today, the Federal Communications Commission voted 2-1 to rescind the prior Declaratory Ruling on the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA), which imposed prescriptive and counterproductive regulations that only served to hinder providers’ ability to keep networks safe.
The following statement is issues jointly by USTelecom – The Broadband Association, CTIA, and NCTA:
“Today’s FCC action protects America’s communications infrastructure by ensuring communications companies retain the agility they need to swiftly address complex threats in a dynamic cybersecurity landscape.
The sector will continue working closely with CISA, the FBI, the NSA, and the Commission on rapid information-sharing and aligned responses to emerging risks as we work toward our shared goal of building stronger, more adaptive defenses that support the nation’s broader security mission.”
