It wasn’t until today’s Imagine Film Challenge Finale that I fully realized how difficult it must be to create a short film in 48 hours. For the student teams from Columbia College Chicago, Loyola Marymount University, New York Film Academy and UCLA, that was exactly what they were challenged to do.
After screening the films, the five judges, Charles Segars, CEO of Ovation, Carter Pilcher, CEO of ShortsHD, actor Rutger Hauer, Deadline Hollywood’s Dominic Patten and Academy Award winning producer, Nick Reed, surely agreed that each of the films were impressive and beautifully made.
When it was first conceived, the Imagine Film Challenge was designed to showcase the future of the industry by highlighting the next generation of filmmakers. That mission was accomplished and if nothing else, these films proved the future of film and television entertainment is in good hands. We’re keeping this post spoiler-free, so watch the films and decide for yourself who the winner should be.
