Over the last several months, Cable in the Classroom has rolled out InCtrl, a series of standards-based lesson plans that help 4-8 graders learn about digital citizenship. I’m happy to announce the final lesson in the series is available on the Cable in the Classroom website. There are now seven lessons, each covering a specific digital citizenship topic, that help students make thoughtful decisions and be in control online.
All of us at Cable in the Classroom are really proud of InCtrl. From listening to educators and parents, we discovered that digital citizenship education is important, but that schools and families need better tools to teach it. That’s why we built a flexible, adaptable, and engaging program that’s available for free. InCtrl fits into already established school curricula, it contains ready to use handouts and activity ideas, and it can be used as a complete series or broken up and each lesson used individually. We’ve already heard wonderful feedback from educators across the country like Eric Langhorst in Liberty, Missouri, who uses InCtrl to open a dialogue with his students about their digital footprint.
