After 12 years at NCTA, longtime industry veteran, Rex Bullinger, announced his retirement as of June 30, 2012. Last week, NCTA hosted a reception to honor Bullinger where he was presented a Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Lifetime Membership Award, ensuring he will continue to enjoy the benefits of a SCTE membership. Bullinger was also presented with SCTE’s newly established Distinguished Service Award, recognizing his “dedicated and loyal service to furthering the growth of the cable telecommunications industry.” CED magazine reported Bullinger’s retirement, quoting NCTA’s Bill Check, Senior Vice President of Science & Technology:
"Rex has made significant contributions to the cable industry over his long career. His vast knowledge of the cable industry and data communications networks has made him a highly respected engineer amongst his peers. We will certainly miss his extensive know-how and boundless experience."
Throughout his career, Bullinger has served many roles in the engineering and technology industries. Prior to coming to NCTA, he was employed at @Home from 1998 until 2000 and Hewlett Packard from 1974 until 1998. Check recalled Bullinger’s passion to learn new information and investigate technological issues outside of the office. What will be Bullinger's first project in retirement? Bullinger plans on spending his time as a private pilot who owns and builds his own airplanes.
