Where to Eat While in DC and Other Helpful Tips

In honor of our new blog header, here's a list of things to make your life easier when you come to DC for The Cable Show '09.

Where to Eat

  • Serious Eats wrote up a great list of places to hit while in DC.

Tweeters' Favorites

We asked followers of The Cable Show's Twitter stream what were some of their favorite places to go to that are near the Washington Convention Center and here are some of their favorites:

  • Acadiana - Do you enjoy Creole and Cajun cuisine? Do you miss the food that you had while you were at The Cable Show '08 in New Orleans? Well, Acadiana can certainly quench that craving you've been having. They serve an upscale take on Creole food and their Executive Chef, Brant Tesky, won accolades as a Chef at Windsor Court Hotel's Grill Room. Word of advice, when you go, order the charbroiled oysters.
    • Location: 901 New York Avenue, NW.  Corner of 9th and New York. About a block from the Convention Center.
  • Brasserie Beck - Now I really did not want to share this tidbit, but this place is a definite do not miss while you are in DC. This remarkable restaurant, just steps away from the Convention Center, specializes in Belgian bistro food and Belgian beer. They even have a Beer Sommelier, that's how serious they take their beer. I recommend everything here. Sorry, can't be too much more specific than that as everything I tried here (from mussels to the chauctuerie board to the desserts) have been tasty.
    • Location: 1101 K Street NW. Corner of 11th and K.  A short hop away from the Convention Center.
  • Proof - If wine is more of your thing than Belgian beers, make sure to make a reservation at Proof. One of DC's top Wine Directors, Sebastian Zutant, has put together a wonderful and exploratory selection of wines. Oh and the food (think bistro) is just as excellent. I recommend the Ahi Tuna Tartare and the Miso Glazed Alaskan Sablefish.
    • Location: 775 G Street NW.  Corner of 7th and G - Across from the Verizon Center.
