Yiannis Yiakoumis and Te-Yuan Huang, PhD candidates from Stanford are $10,000 richer having won the inaugural Cable Show App Challenge. Their winning app allows users to monitor their home network and prioritize traffic coming into the home. The app would allow consumers, for instance, to give network prioritization to video streams entering the home over other traffic to ensure a quality viewing experience. We had a chance to sit down with the winners after the awards ceremony and will post some of that discussion later.
