Comcast Changing the Customer Experience with New Live Streaming App

In May, Comcast launched to a limited number of it’s X1 users Xfinity Share, an iOS and Android app that allowed customers to live stream video and send photos and recorded videos directly to their TVs and to each other. Now, all X1 customers have access to the app.

As Comcast VP of Communications Patti Loyack said upon the launch in May, “[Xfinity Share] gives the power to share special moments in their lives as they happen…[letting] users broadcast whatever they see in real time to the biggest screen in the home.” The app was met with wide enthusiasm, allowing an all-new way to take advantage of the latest in broadband and streaming technology.

Initially making the Xfinity Share available on a limited basis gave Comcast a chance to study how people used the app and to work out any bugs, making sure it was ready for wide release. Comcast says they’re “encouraged by the early results and [now] look forward to more customers using the feature.”

How are people using Xfinity Share so far? Data reveals an unsurprising “huge uptick” in Xfinity Share usage on weekends and holidays when people are more likely to share big events like weddings and vacations. It’s also been revealed that “the majority of people who tried Xfinity Share are repeat users” indicating that the app is working well, easy to use, and adding value.

Now that the app is available to everyone, Comcast is looking forward to discovering how even more people will take advantage of live streaming. Comcast already report plans to add new features, making the overall Xfinity Share experience even better in the future.

You can download Xfinity Share in the Apple Store for iOS devices and from Google Play for Android devices.
