In 2008 it was the Battle of the Bands. In 2012, a world class Hack-a-Thon. This year…?
The Cable Show has a way of surprising even the most veteran cable insider with special events that can’t be seen anywhere else. And true to form, The Cable Show 2014 is partnering with ShortsHD – The Short Movie Channel – for a first-time-ever 48-hour student film competition called The Imagine Film Challenge.
The Imagine Film Challenge will bring together student teams from three LA-based universities to create short films. The goal of the competition (other than an amazing display of creativity, ingenuity, and skill, of course) is to help cultivate the next generation of film and TV talent by providing student’s access to top filmmakers, television executives and digital media organizations.
Throughout the 48-hour contest, teams will be paired with media partners who will provide mentoring and general project collaboration, production assistance, and overall sponsorship of the team’s participation in the competition.
All of the films will be shot on The Cable Show exhibit floor at the Los Angeles Convention Center and surrounding area. They’ll be edited, screened and critiqued by a panel of industry judges in Imagine Park, The Cable Show’s live events stage on the exhibit floor. The winning film will take home a Top Prize Award following the screening. And perhaps the best part of all – the projects will later be broadcasted on ShortsHD channel, exposing the world to these young, up-and-coming filmmakers on the latest content platform.
We can’t wait to see what these young filmmakers create!
