Even though it feels like winter is never going to end, The Cable Show in sunny Los Angeles will be here before you know it. We have some exciting updates to share as session details and special events get finalized.

The first wave of General Session speakers were just announced, spanning technology, entertainment, politics and everything in between. The big stage will feature FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, Comcast’s Brian Roberts, ESPN/Disney’s John Skipper, A&E Networks’ Nancy Dubuc and more. Some of cable’s most popular TV show creators like Mad Men’s Matthew Weiner, Sons of Anarchy’s Kurt Sutter and Masters of Sex’s Michelle Ashford will also speak to the crowd.

The full list of scheduled speakers and dignitaries is available online, with even more names to be announced soon. Don’t forget to pencil in two live and brand-new events at #Cable2014 featuring college and graduate students.

The Interactive Launch Competition, where MBA students mentored by top cable tech companies present business and marketing solutions, will take place live on April 28th.  And the 48-hour Imagine Film Challenge, where student teams create short films over 48 hours during the show to be judged by entertainment influencers, will be hosted live in Imagine Park. And of course, we cannot forget to congratulate the winners of the 2014 Vanguard Awards – the cable industry’s most prestigious honors, celebrating the “best of the best” in the industry. Neil Smit of Comcast and Patty McCaskill of Suddenlink Communications are the recipients of the top honor, the Vanguard Award for “Distinguished Leadership.” The other winning men and women come from all corners of the industry from programming and marketing to science and technology.  A complete list of all winners and more information about the Vanguard Awards ceremony is available at The Cable Show’s website.

We hope you’re as excited as we are for the best of the cable industry to take over downtown Los Angeles. Keep checking @CableShow (#Cable2014), this blog, and the official Cable Show website for more news and information on the film competition and all other news for The Cable Show 2014.
