Get To Know the Cable Tech Talk Team!

We are the NCTA communications and digital team, the group that brings you Cable Tech Talk, NCTA.com and our social media efforts. We each have our own unique roles and responsibilities (and quirks) and we wanted to take a moment to share. We hope you enjoy getting to know the team and check back often to see us in action!

BRIAN DIETZ, Vice President of Communications & Digital Strategy

As Cool, Calm, and Collected as a Midwesterner Should Be

As VP of Communications & Digital Strategy, Brian manages NCTA’s efforts around media outreach, social media and the group’s websites and digital platforms. His personal mission to question traditions (just ask his wife!) is a good baseline for his constant prodding encouragement to find creative ways to communicate complicated issues. When he’s not at the office, you will find Brian with his two daughters, biking the hilly roads of Maryland or teeing off at a local golf course, but definitely not doing yard work.

JOY SIMS, Senior Director of Communications

Not-So-Secretly in Love with Anthony Bourdain

Joy serves as Senior Director of Communications and is the brains and brawn behind NCTA’s media outreach and communications strategies and is the department go-to for any questions. Somewhere between being a news monitor, grammar police, and expert writer, Joy manages to squeeze in some extracurriculars, be it zipping around the side streets of DC in her convertible or glued to her iPad watching tennis tournaments and Anthony Bourdain reruns.

JOHN SOLIT, Director of Digital Engagement

Sincerely Confused as to Why Segway's Never Went Big

As the Director of Digital Engagement, John spends his day online sharing the wide world of cable. If you've ever come across one of cable's #BroadData infographics, if you read NCTA's blog "CableTechTalk.com", or if you follow any of NCTA's social media accounts, then you've seen John at work. He's the guy making sure cable's message is digital, accessible, and of course, shareable. When he's not at work, John can be found riding his bike or delicately arranging the stones, sticks, and plants in his aquarium. He finds both very relaxing.

LISA HAMILTON, Manager of Digital Integration and Design

Very Worried

Lisa Hamilton, as the Manager of Digital Integration and Design, balances her busy days between worrying (what she terms as “chaos theory modeling”), acting as the social media voice and Instagrammer for “The Cable Show”, updating the multitude of NCTA’s websites, translating analytics and helping other NCTA departments with their MailChimp woes. When she does stop to take a breather, she is busy taming lions (aka raising a toddler), climbing mountains (aka walking up the escalators on the left), and discovering new lands (aka reading books).

JULIANNE TWINING, Digital Communications Specialist & Digital Strategy

From the Looks of it, Probably Dehydrated

You may recognize Julianne from some of the blog posts on “CableTechTalk.com” or if you spend time on NCTA’s Facebook page. As Digital Communications Specialist, Julianne spends her days coming up with creative ways to tell cable’s story on NCTA’s wide range of online platforms. When Julianne is not hunting for stories, analyzing data, Facebook-ing or video editing, you may find her praising the D.C. bus system or jogging while listening to Mumford on her iPod.

LISA OTTO, Interactive Designer & Digital Strategy

Discussing the Joys of Rabbit Ownership

You can thank Lisa for making cable stats and broadband data a pleasure for the eyes to behold. As the team's interactive designer, she's not afraid to illustrate her point. Experienced in both print and digital, Lisa is involved in all stages of the creative process, from strategy to design to project launch. When she's not tending to her rabbit herd, she's recruiting other Lisas for her all Lisa softball team.
