We’ve spent a lot of time on this blog marking the progress of cable’s publically available Wi-Fi hotspots. (This past May we announced 250,000 hotspots had been deployed.) We’ve reminded that those hotspots, available to most cable customers, were being installed in hundreds of communities across the country. And we’ve revealed how they’re enabling a near ubiquitous broadband network that is already powering the future of connectivity and the burgeoning Internet of Things. So rather than again pour over the incredible benefits of widely available broadband, the technological achievement of hotspot installation, or the future of Wi-Fi spectrum, we’ll just hang on that number: 300,000 2014 was an incredible year for Wi-Fi. How many hotspots will be installed in 2015? Check out NCTA's industry data page for more stats and insight into the numbers that drive cable.
