The One Million Year TV Binge
This week’s #BroadData takes the latest TV trend – binge watching – to a whole new level.
Recently, we learned that Americans watch 8 billion on-demand programs each year on cable. If we figure that some of those programs are 22-minute TV shows and others are 2 hour feature films, the average program is about one hour. We did the math and realized that those 8 billion hours add up to almost one million years!
Taking this to it’s logical Cable Tech Talk end, we asked ourselves, “What would it look like if we held the greatest TV binge in human history and watched everything cable customers watched last year – a million years of on-demand programming – in the order in which it was created, starting one million years ago and ending today?”
