This week's #broaddata is a departure from our usual look at the state of U.S. cable TV and Internet and instead a nod to growing Internet speeds across the globe. Since 2007, broadband speeds by continent have increased from an average of 5 to 10 mbps to over 30 mbps in North America, 26 mbps in Europe, and 23 mbps in Asia. This points not only to the importance placed on speedy, accessible Internet by all nations, but that the progress of technology is constantly marching forward. North America in particular is successfully pressing the technological envelope and Cable is proud of its part in creating the worlds fastest continental average Internet speeds. Clearly, billions of dollars in cable infrastructure investments are paying off.
