STATEMENT OF ROBERT SACHS, NCTA, REGARDING PASSAGE OF THE INTERNET TAX NON-DISCRIMINATION ACT

Statement of Robert Sachs, President & CEO,
National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA)
Regarding Passage of the Internet Tax Non-Discrimination Act

“Congress has acted in the interest of consumers with passage of the Act, which will ensure continued robust deployment of new services such as broadband Internet access, and will protect consumers – including the more than 20 million customers for cable modem service – from new and burdensome state and local taxes. The benefits of broadband and Internet services can best be brought to millions more consumers in an environment unfettered by unnecessary taxation and government regulation. We commend Senators Allen and Wyden, and Representative Cox, for their leadership in getting this important legislation passed.”
