Oxygen's Laybourne and Cablevision's Rutledge Named Co-Chairs for The 2006 National Show

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) today announced co-chairs for The 2006 National Show and issued its annual call for technical papers that are published and presented at the conference.

Co-Chairs Head Steering Committee

Geraldine Laybourne, Chairman & CEO, Oxygen Media, and Tom Rutledge, Chief Operating Officer, Cablevision Systems Corporation, will serve as co-chairs of The 2006 National Show, NCTA's 55th Annual Convention & International Exposition, the principal annual trade show of the cable and telecommunications industry.

Under their leadership, a Steering Committee for the Show will be assembled to map out an overall strategic direction for the convention, including discussion of its theme, content and marketing strategy. The 2006 National Show will be held April 9-11 at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta.

One element from the 2005 show that will return is the high-energy Sunday-to-Tuesday format that was well-received by attendees and exhibitors in 2005. The schedule will offer attendees a wide variety of business, learning, and networking opportunities as well as a bustling exhibit floor, shaping up once again to be the industry's largest and most diverse marketplace for entertainment, technology and advanced services.

NCTA also issued its annual call for technical papers to be presented during The National Show, and published in The 2006 NCTA Technical Papers™. Next year marks the 47th year in which NCTA publishes the NCTA Technical Papers™, generally regarded as the archival-quality technical record for the cable and telecommunications industry.

Submissions will be juried by a panel of top industry technologists chaired by Dan Pike, Chief Technical Officer, GCI Cable, Inc. Proposals are due by December 12.
