NCTA Offers New PSAs to Publicize Hurricane Relief

Washington, DC – On Wednesday, September 7, and Thursday, September 8, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) will feed via satellite to cable programmers and operators a new series of public service announcements (PSAs) publicizing hurricane relief.

One PSA comes from the American Red Cross and was produced by the Ad Council.  Additional PSAs come from USA Freedom Corps featuring former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.  Both sets of PSAs ask Americans to join in the relief effort for those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The Red Cross PSA, entitled "Minus," will be available in a 30-second version, as well as a :25/:05 customizable version.  The USA Freedom Corps PSAs, entitled "Hurricane Relief," featuring former Presidents Bush and Clinton – who also collaborated earlier this year on spots for tsunami relief – will be available in three versions: a customizable :50/:10, as well as a :30 and a  :10.

The PSAs have been added to an already scheduled uplink for the latest PSA in the Take Control. It’s Easy. campaign that’s part of the Cable Puts You in Control initiative focused on cable’s parental controls.

NCTA invites cable operators and programmers to review the hurricane relief PSAs and consider inserting them in national and local availabilities.
