NCTA Issues Call for Vanguard Award Nominations

2005 Marks the 40th Anniversary for Cable Industry's Highest Honor

Award Ceremony Will Highlight Monday Evening Program at The 2005 National Show

Washington, D.C. - The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) today issued its request for nominations for the 2005 Vanguard Awards, the cable industry's highest honor.

The awards will be presented the evening of Monday, April 4, 2005, during The 2005 National Show, NCTA's 54th Annual Convention and International Exposition, April 3-5, 2005, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Nominations for the Awards are due to NCTA on or before January 21, 2005. Nomination forms are available via the Web at www.thenationalshow.com or by contacting the NCTA Industry Affairs Department at (202) 775-3669.

"The Vanguard Awards are an opportunity to honor the best and brightest in cable, recognizing the men and women who have built and continue to grow a thriving industry," said Robert Sachs, President & CEO, NCTA. "We encourage our colleagues across the country to nominate dedicated executives that have made major contributions to our industry's success."

Inaugurated in 1965, the Vanguards are presented to individuals who excel in business and personal commitment to colleagues, and whose accomplishments merit the recognition of the entire cable industry. Award winners are honored in the following categories:

  • Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership (Man)
  • Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership (Woman)
  • Vanguard Award for Young Leadership
  • Vanguard Award for Programmers
  • Vanguard Award for Associates and Affiliates
  • Vanguard Award for Science and Technology
  • Vanguard Award for Cable Operations Management
  • Vanguard Award for Government and Community Relations
  • Vanguard Award for Marketing

Award candidates may be nominated by representatives of NCTA member companies, and winners are selected by an Awards Committee comprising members of the NCTA Board of Directors and former Award winners.
