Latest Developments in Broadband Technology
Will be Featured at The National Show 2004
WASHINGTON, DC – The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) has issued its annual call for technical papers for presentation next spring at The National Show.
Papers accepted for presentation also will be included in The 2004 NCTA Technical Papers™, a valuable reference text for cable engineering professionals that will be issued and showcased during The National Show, NCTA’s 53rd Annual Convention and International Exposition, May 2-5, 2004 in New Orleans.
Entering its 45th year of publication, The NCTA Technical Papers offer a prestigious platform for cable engineers to present the latest in cutting-edge broadband technology. Any topic of interest to broadband cable and telecommunications engineering managers is eligible. Topics of particular interest include: approaches to low-cost terminal device design; home networking, wireless communications and their role in cable; DVR/PVR hardware and software design and implementation; bandwidth management and maximizing bandwidth utilization; conditional access and digital rights management; VoIP; and other advanced broadband technology topics.
Summaries of proposed technical papers are due December 15, 2003, and will be judged by a panel of members of the NCTA Engineering Forum. Judging will be based on reference value in the context of problem-solving treatments in operations and design. Product pitches and previously published works cannot be considered. Multiple entries from a system, manufacturer or individual are acceptable.
Selected authors must create manuscripts by March 8, 2004, and authors must be prepared to give a 15- to 20-minute oral presentation at The National Show 2004 based on their paper’s key concepts.
The National Show 2004 will feature a multi-session technical program, as well as availability of the 2004 NCTA Technical Papersbook and CD-ROM. The 2004 edition of the Technical Papers will be sold at the convention and thereafter through NCTA.
