The National Cable Television Association today announced that Marc Osgoode Smith has joined the NCTA staff as senior director for Communications.
"We're excited to have Marc aboard," said NCTA Communications vice president Dave Beckwith. "He brings an extensive background in the industry, knowledge of industry issues, communications ability and enthusiasm. His fresh perspective will help the association move forward on policy, regulatory and legislative messages."
Smith will have major responsibility in all aspects of the NCTA's communications work, including message development, strategic planning, media outreach and press relations. He will also assist with annual convention planning and the ongoing rebuilding of the NCTA website.
Smith has spent most of the past eight years at Phillips Business Information, the last three years as editor in chief of CableFAX Daily. In 1997-98, he was senior editor and Washington bureau chief of Cablevision Magazine. Prior to that, he worked on other Phillips publications, including a stint as senior editor of CableFAX Daily.
A 1993 graduate of the College of Wooster, Smith is married and lives in Washington, D.C.
