Letter to the FCC on Universal Service and Intercarrier Compensation Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Cable & Telecommunications Association and the American Cable Association today sent a letter to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski about planned changes for intercarrier compensation and the universal service program. The letter, signed by Matthew M. Polka, President & CEO, ACA, and Michael K. Powell, President & CEO, NCTA, highlights four key issues:

  • The need to modernize USF and ICC for broadband
  • Fiscal responsibility
  • Accountability of funding recipients
  • The use of market-driven and incentive-based policies
