Jill Luckett and William Check Named NCTA Senior VP's

Washington, D.C. – National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) President & CEO Robert Sachs today announced two senior promotions.  Jill Luckett has been elevated to Senior Vice President - Program Network Policy, from Vice President; and William Check has been elevated to Senior Vice President - Science & Technology, from Vice President.

“Jill Luckett and Bill Check have made significant contributions to the cable industry,” Sachs said.  “As leaders of the programming and technology policy segments of NCTA's business, each has been highly effective in helping NCTA achieve public policy objectives.  They are most deserving of their promotions.”

Luckett has led the Program Network Policy department at NCTA since 1995. She focuses on the legislative and regulatory issues that affect NCTA's program network members and serves as an advocate for cable networks before Congress and federal regulatory agencies.  She has led NCTA's advocacy efforts regarding digital carriage issues and a la carte pricing.  Prior to joining NCTA, Luckett was Special Advisor to FCC Commissioner Rachelle Chong and oversaw legislative activity for former U. S. Sen. Bob Packwood (R-OR).

Check has led the Science and Technology department at NCTA since 1998. He provides leadership and coordination of the industry's interests in technology matters, and is responsible for the analysis and evaluation of the technical issues being considered by public policymakers.  Check played a lead role in the 2002 “Plug and Play” digital TV agreement reached with the consumer electronics industry.  Before joining NCTA, Check worked in the satellite and broadcasting industries, and has helped support the industry's development of packet data, video and audio communications systems.

NCTA is the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States. NCTA represents cable operators serving more than 90 percent of the nation's cable television households and more than 200 cable program networks, as well as equipment suppliers and providers of other services to the cable industry.
