INTX Brings Hackathon to Chicago

INTXHACK Partners Comcast/NBCUniversal, Gracenote, Tribune Media and 1871 Challenge Technology Developers to Rethink Digital Entertainment

WASHINGTON, DC – The Internet & Television Expo (INTX) is teaming with Comcast/NBCUniversal, Gracenote/Tribune Media and 1871 to challenge technologists and developers from Chicago and beyond to rethink the future of digital entertainment at the first ever INTXHACK. This 24-hour developer challenge takes place May 2–3, 2015, in conjunction with INTX in Chicago. Participating hackers will compete live at 1871, Chicago’s entrepreneurial hub for digital start-ups, with finalists being showcased during INTX at McCormick Place West, May 5-7, 2015.

INTXHACK will bring together developers, designers and content creators from across the media and entertainment ecosystem to create innovative applications to match INTX themes, including TV Everywhere, online video, gaming, connected life, advanced user interfaces and navigation. The goal of the hackathon is to showcase the latest in interactive design and development, providing hackers access to top Internet and television companies at INTX and inside 1871.

What: At INTXHACK, developers will have 24-hours to create new, innovative ways to produce, present and experience TV, movies, games and other digital entertainment.

Finalists will be chosen after the challenge and will advance to the INTXHACK Finals, which take place Wednesday, May 6 in Imagine Park, the live events stage in the INTX Marketplace. Finalists will also be featured in a special INTX showcase exhibit providing access to thousands of media, entertainment and investment executives and the opportunity to present their ideas throughout the three-day event. They will be joined by local start-up companies presently housed at 1871 and looking for connections to the Internet & Television industry.

INTX, sponsored by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), is an event May 5-7, 2015, at McCormick Place West that brings together thousands of Internet, technology and television professionals from around the world.

Organizers will be recruiting developers from the tech community, reaching out through colleges, universities, and several innovation and entrepreneurial district organizations within the greater Chicago area as well as others around the country.

The INTX Marketplace will be home to companies in technology, software and apps, online video, multiscreen, mobility, consumer tech, games and advertising. The event will also showcase diverse panels, all-access receptions and networking opportunities, interactive experiences, digital content pavilions, screening areas and more.
