Washington, D.C. – Kevin Martin, the new Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will participate in a General Session on Tuesday, April 5, at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time, at The 2005 National Show, the 54th Annual Convention & International Exposition of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), scheduled for April 3-5 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
Martin was appointed by President Bush as FCC Chairman on March 18, 2005, succeeding Michael Powell. He began his service as an FCC Commissioner in 2001.
This will be Martin's first appearance before the cable industry as FCC Chairman. This General Session appearance supersedes previously-announced plans for Martin to participate in a panel discussion at a Public Policy Luncheon at the Show on April 5.
Veteran business journalist Stuart Varney of FOX News Channel will interview Chairman Martin about his agenda for the FCC and the many issues affecting the cable industry and telecommunications. Chairman Martin's interview will open the Tuesday morning general session at 9:30 a.m. in the West Hall of the Moscone Center. It will immediately precede Varney's panel interview with Glenn Britt, Chairman & CEO Time Warner Cable; Rob Glaser, Chairman & CEO RealNetworks, Inc.; Len Lauer, President & COO, Sprint Corporation; and Jim Robbins, President & CEO, Cox Communications, Inc.
In related news, NCTA said that due to a change in her schedule, FCC Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy will not attend The National Show and won't be able to participate in the Public Policy Luncheon on Tuesday, April 5, as previously announced. The luncheon panel now will include:

- Michael Copps, Commissioner, Federal Communications Commission
- Michael Gallagher, Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information U.S. Department of Commerce / NTIA
