Deadline Extended to August 25 for Purchase of Advance Tickets to Kaitz Foundation Dinner

WASHINGTON, D.C.

– The Walter Kaitz Foundation has extended its deadline for the purchase of advance tickets for the 2005 Walter Kaitz Foundation Dinner to Thursday, August 25. It had been today (August 17).

The 22nd Annual Kaitz Foundation Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14, at the Hilton New York in New York City. Cocktails begin at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. "Business attire" is recommended for those attending the event.

"Ticket purchases have been strong in recent weeks, and we want to ensure that every company and interested individual has the opportunity to support and attend this important event," said Debbie A. Smith, Executive Director, Walter Kaitz Foundation. "Our honorees this year provide excellent examples of how all of us can help foster diversity in our workplaces, so the dinner is one event no industry executive will want to miss."

This year’s dinner will feature a new format for recognizing honorees that consists of four "Diversity Champions" from the cable industry, honored for their work in encouraging diversity in cable, and one prominent Member of Congress honored as a "Diversity Advocate," for his national leadership and an unwavering commitment to diversity.

2005 Diversity Champions
  • Glenn Britt, Chairman & CEO, Time Warner Cable
  • Mae A. Douglas, Senior Vice President & Chief People Officer, Cox Communications
  • James A. Hatcher, Senior Vice President, Legal & Regulatory Affairs, Cox Communications
  • Sherryl D. Love, Vice President of Materials Management, Cox Communications, Inc.
2005 Diversity Advocate
  • U.S. Representative Melvin L. Watt (D-NC, 12th District); Chairman, Congressional Black Caucus

NBC News and MSNBC anchor Lester Holt will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event, while Brian Roberts, Chairman & CEO, Comcast Corporation and George Bodenheimer, President, ESPN and ABC Sports are co-chairs.

Hotel rooms are selling out quickly because the Kaitz Foundation dinner is being held the same week as the opening of the United Nations General Assembly. Hotel rooms at the host Hilton New York, for instance, are nearly sold out. Those needing a hotel room should make hotel reservations as soon as possible.

Forms for dinner reservations and hotel accommodations are available on the Kaitz Foundation website at www.walterkaitz.org or by contacting the Walter Kaitz Foundation at 202/775-3611.
