David Krone to Rejoin NCTA as Executive Vice President

Washington, D.C. -- The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) announced today that David Krone will rejoin the trade association July 1 as Executive Vice President, reporting to Robert Sachs, President and Chief Executive Officer.

As NCTA’s second most senior executive, Krone will be involved in all aspects of NCTA’s work on behalf of the cable TV industry. He succeeds Peggy Binzel, who this week announced her departure from NCTA on June 30 to become the Chief Executive Officer of CoreNet Global, an Atlanta-based professional association representing U.S. and international corporate real estate executives.

Krone, 35, is currently Executive Vice President of Marketing with the YES (Yankees Entertainment and Sports) Network. In this capacity, he has been responsible for the initial branding campaign developed to launch the new regional sports cable and satellite network.

“David brings in-depth knowledge of both the cable business and Washington, as well as excellent political and communications skills. He’ll hit the ground running and play a key role in NCTA’s future,” Sachs said. “I’m delighted to have him back.”

Krone previously served as Executive Vice President of Government Relations at AT&T Broadband prior to his earlier stint as NCTA Executive Vice President from October 1999 to January 2000. He worked for Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI), a predecessor of AT&T Broadband, from 1992 to 1999 in a variety of senior government relations positions.

Shortly after Krone first joined NCTA, Leo Hindery, for whom Krone had worked at AT&T Broadband and TCI, recruited Krone to become Executive Vice President of Communications and Marketing of GlobalCenter, Inc., where Hindery became CEO in late 1999. Krone served with Hindery at GlobalCenter until January 2001, later joining Hindery at YES Network.

Krone began his career with Southern Strategies, Inc., a lobbying and political consulting firm based in Raleigh, N.C., where he was responsible for campaign management and consulting. He is a 1989 graduate of Pennsylvania State University.

NCTA is the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States. NCTA represents cable operators serving more than 90 percent of the nation's cable television households and more than 200 cable program networks, as well as equipment suppliers and providers of other services to the cable industry.
