Three Day Event Brought Together Government Leaders, Media and Technology Executives and Hollywood Producers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) wrapped up The Cable Show 2013, the U.S. cable industry’s premier national event, today with a one-on-one discussion with NUVOtv’s Jennifer Lopez and a keynote address on technology in education by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Today’s General Session also included a Content Creation: The Producers’ Perspective panel featuring Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives & Devious Maids), Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad & Rectify) and Joe Weisberg (The Americans).

The Cable Show was held in Washington, D.C. from June 10-12 and brought together world-renowned names in media and entertainment, policy, technology and business.  The event included conversations with government leaders, including Members of Congress, FCC Commissioners, and Executive Branch and congressional staff, as well as presentations from leading industry executives on the future of cable and technology and the ever-changing entertainment landscape.

The Cable Show 2013 featuredthree General Sessions, including keynote addresses from NCTA President & CEO Michael Powell and Secretary Duncan; panels on Broadband Innovation, Content Creation, Cable on the World Stage, Education in Technology; discussions with Mignon Clyburn, FCC Acting Chairwoman and Jennifer Lopez; and a groundbreaking demonstration on the future of TV with Brian Roberts, Chairman & CEO, Comcast Corporation.

Public policy leaders also visited The Cable Show to tour the centerpiece of the exhibit floor, The Observatory, a 360-degree multimedia experience that shows the journey through cable’s transformative evolution from the first multichannel television delivery platform, to the power of broadband, to today’s powerful content and delivery platform. The venue also explores cable's leadership in delivering innovative, engaging, and critically acclaimed entertainment from today’s most creative storytellers.
