WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Observatory, a multimedia venue that brings cable’s incredible success story to life, will be the centerpiece of The Cable Show 2013 exhibit floor.  The Observatory will combine visual storytelling with product showcases devoted to devices, user interfaces and applications that are powered by cable’s network.

Built in partnership with A+E Networks, ARRIS, Comcast, Cox Communications, CommScope, Disney/ESPN Media Networks, Ericsson, HBO, Fox, LG Electronics, USA, NBC Universal, Scripps Networks Interactive, Showtime Networks, Time Warner Cable, Turner, and others. The Observatory will be a 360-degree immersive experience that takes attendees on a journey through cable’s transformative evolution from the first multichannel television delivery platform, to the power of broadband, to today’s powerful content and delivery platform. The multimedia experience also explores cable’s leadership in delivering innovative, engaging, and critically acclaimed entertainment from today’s most creative storytellers.    

The Observatory will highlight several themes:

  • Cable as a disruptive innovator.
  • What people love about great television.
  • Broadband and the powerful experiences it enables.
  • More than just TV – empowering a new generation of visionaries.

As part of The Observatory, the “Cable to Go” app Showcase will feature media and entertainment-themed apps, for tablet devices. Those interested in displaying their broadband-enabled mobile tablet experiences should submit their app online no later than May 10. Those selected will be notified immediately thereafter.

Returning to The Cable Show exhibit floor is Imagine Park, the live events stage for breaking news, product announcements and general thought leadership. Additional information on speakers and schedule for Imagine Park will be announced soon.
