WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) announced today that The Cable Show 2012, the cable industry’s annual convention and international exposition, will be held May 21-23, 2012, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Cable Show 2012 will be co-chaired by Phil Kent, Chairman and CEO, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., and Neil Smit, President, Comcast Cable Communications. The co-chairs, together with a panel of senior executives in cable operations, strategy, and technology, will outline key opportunities and objectives for the industry in Boston and guide the convention’s content and theme for the three-day event.
“Phil Kent and Neil Smit are visionaries in the cable industry, and we are grateful for their leadership in building cable’s annual platform for inspiring and highlighting innovative new products and services that cable is delivering to American consumers,” said Michael Powell, President & CEO, NCTA. “Their insights and creativity will help shape a meaningful and constructive dialogue among the industry’s most influential stakeholders in media and entertainment.”
“Innovation, compelling programming and the future of media and entertainment will shine at The Cable Show,” Kent said. “We’re looking forward to putting together an exciting program that will showcase the great value of cable for America’s consumers.”
The Cable Show 2012 marks the first time this event has been held in Boston, home to some of the country’s most influential figures in technology, media investment and academia. Attendees will “Experience More” at the only international event that unites the entire spectrum of cable-powered opportunity – including speed, innovation, programing and value – on America’s most advanced broadband platform.
“Boston is an incredible innovation and intellectual ecosystem, and home to some of America’s best universities, thought leaders and visionaries. It’s a perfect city to demonstrate the cutting-edge distribution technologies being developed by our industry and the amazing, award-winning content that consumers value,” concluded Smit.
