WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) today announced that K. Dane Snowden, formerly Chief of the FCC Consumer and Government Affairs Bureau and currently Vice President for External & State Affairs for CTIA – The Wireless Association, will join NCTA in the new role of Chief of Staff, working closely with NCTA President & CEO Michael Powell and Executive Vice President James Assey to oversee the association’s day-to-day operations as well as its planning and strategic initiatives.

Snowden assumes his position at NCTA on August 22.

“Dane is a remarkable talent with significant managerial and administrative leadership experience that makes him a perfect candidate to help me more effectively lead NCTA,” Powell said.  “Dane will join a quality team here at NCTA, and I know he’ll be a great asset to the organization and the cable industry.”

Snowden joined CTIA – The Wireless Association in 2005, and he has managed and directed CTIA’s state policy and liaison efforts.  Prior to joining CTIA, Snowden was Chief of the FCC Consumer and Government Affairs Bureau where he was responsible for development and execution of the vision, strategic direction, telecommunications policy and management of the bureau’s activities and 300 employees. 

Before joining the Commission in 2001, Snowden was Vice President for Business Development and Strategic Alliances at MissionFish.com; Vice President for Corporate, Nonprofit and Faith Commitments at America’s Promise – The Alliance for Youth; and Corporate Development Director for the United Negro College Fund.  Snowden also has been active in many community-based charitable pursuits, many of which address the needs of children and young people.  He is a graduate of The College of William and Mary.
