TECHNICAL PAPERS PROPOSALS DUE DECEMBER 16, 2002

NCTA is hosting a series of technical sessions and developing conference proceedings text for NCTA-The National Show, to be held June 8 - 11, 2003 in Chicago, Illinois. Potential authors/speakers should submit written proposals using the Proposal Submission Form by December 16, 2002. The technical paper proposals will be judged by a panel of NCTA Engineering Committee members, chaired by Dan Pike, Chief Technical Officer, Classic Communications.

2003*The National Show marks the 52nd anniversary of the cable industry's largest, most widely attended convention and international exposition. Regarded as the industry's only archive of the advances in cable and telecommunications technology, The NCTA Technical Papers(tm) will publish its 44th volume in this long-running conference series. Last year's conference in New Orleans featured eight sessions highlighting the published works of more than 40 distinguished authors.

Any topic of interest to broadband cable and telecommunications engineering managers is eligible. Topics of particular interest include: TV Internet, network security, IP telephony including case studies/rollouts, home networking, bandwidth management, data tiering, and other advanced broadband technology topics.

Provide enough specifics about the planned presentation to indicate premise, reference value, content and intended audience. One hundred words might be sufficient, but a page or more is an acceptable length proposal. Multiple proposals from an individual are allowed. IMPORTANT: No previously published texts or marketing pieces will be considered. Selected authors are expected to complete a technical paper based on the originally proposed subject by the published deadlines. Proposals must be received by the December 16 deadline.

Authors will be notified in late January. If your proposal for a paper and presentation is accepted, be prepared to send a completed, camera-ready manuscript (in hard-copy and electronic formats) to NCTA by March 17, 2003 and to present a 15 to 20 minute oral presentation based on the paper during The National Show technical sessions. Speakers are responsible for their own travel and registration arrangements and fees.

Send paper proposals using the Proposal Submission Form via e-mail to technicalpapers@ncta.com. Be sure to include complete contact information for the primary author. You may also send proposals by fax or mail to:
