Washington, D.C.Cable 2002: Connecting America is the theme for the 51st Annual Convention & International Exposition hosted by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA). The National Show will open May 5, 2002 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA.

“This year’s theme celebrates the cable industry’s leadership in ‘connecting America.’ In an increasingly competitive marketplace, cable has already made broadband access available to some 70 million households,” said Robert Sachs, NCTA President & CEO. “We will continue our efforts to bring advanced broadband services to rural and urban consumers alike – that’s what Cable 2002 is all about.”

“For that reason, we are very pleased that Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) has timed its 2002 Broadband Opportunity Conference to take place in New Orleans during Cable 2002. The combined agenda will enhance the value for convention attendees,” Sachs said.

“Timing our annual Broadband Opportunity Conference to coincide with the NCTA National Show makes perfect sense. It is efficient for our members and the industry, and allows those interested in getting smarter about broadband marketing to gain hands-on access to NCTA’s display of new and future technology,” said Char Beales, President and CEO, CTAM.

The CTAM Broadband Opportunity Conference focuses on the development and marketing of advanced services enabled through cable's broadband connection to the networked home.

“We are optimistic about this year’s show. We think the National Show will continue to provide a very valuable resource for our industry’s constituencies,” concluded Sachs.
