WASHINGTON, D.C. – The 2012 Spring Technical Forum – hosted by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs®), and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) – will return as part of The Cable Show 2012, May 21-23, 2012 in Boston. The Forum will provide a look into the future of the cable broadband industry, featuring a full line-up of peer-reviewed papers, thought provoking plenary panels, and networking opportunities.
“I am continually impressed with the new ideas and technical advances that come out of the Forum each year. We’re planning to continue pushing critical thinking beyond the here and now by providing an in-depth look at what could become the next big thing in cutting edge broadband applications,” said Dan Pike, Chief Technology Officer, GCI Cable, and Chairman of the Spring Technical Forum Selection Committee.
This year’s Forum will once again be targeted towards a broad cross section of senior-level technologists and those with engineering management, operational, and financial responsibilities, with a specific focus on innovation and the business of technology in the rapidly evolving digital marketplace.
NCTA, CableLabs, and SCTE have announced a call for papers for presentation at the Forum. Any technology-driven topic of interest to cable engineering professionals, particularly from the fields of RF Engineering, Computer Science, and Applied Physics, is eligible. Specific topics of interest include:

A blue ribbon panel of industry experts, led by Pike, will jury the papers. Judging will be based on the premise, reference value, content and intended audience of each paper. Multiple entries will be accepted but product pitches and previously published works cannot be considered. Prospective authors interested in preparing and presenting a paper at the 2012 Spring Technical Forum should submit a proposal using the online submission tool available at www.springtechforum.com no later than January 6, 2012. Authors who have been selected to present their papers at the Spring Technical Forum will be notified in late January and will be invited to present the highlights of their written work during the Forum, taking place at The Cable Show 2012. The technical papers proceedings will be available for purchase during the event and thereafter online.
