NCTA LAUNCHES “CABLE: FASTER FORWARD”
MEDIA CAMPAIGN

Washington, D.C. – A multi-media advertising campaign to highlight the cable industry’s progress in delivering more choice, quality and value to American consumers through the deployment of advanced broadband services has been launched in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) announced today.

The campaign is titled, “Cable: Faster Forward.” Elements include TV, newspaper and radio advertising as well as outdoor advertising, website banners and a web site (www.faster-forward.com). The campaign will run in the national capital area from now through mid-November.

“The Faster Forward theme reflects the significant progress the cable industry has made since the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which led to deregulation of the industry and resulted in cable companies investing $75 billion to upgrade cable’s infrastructure and bring advanced broadband services to millions of consumers,” said Robert Sachs, President & CEO of NCTA. “In addition to the launch of consumer-friendly services such as digital cable, high-speed Internet service, local telephone service, and high-definition television, this investment has resulted in significant job creation, free Internet service for schools and many other benefits for the consumer and the U.S. economy.”

The campaign was developed by the New York-based advertising agency, SS+K. The Faster Forward campaign is a follow-up to previous advertising sponsored by NCTA. The most recent campaign, “Cable – Outside the Box,” ran early last year.

NCTA is the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States. NCTA represents cable operators serving more than 90 percent of the nation's cable television households and more than 200 cable program networks, as well as equipment suppliers and providers of other services to the cable industry.
