NCTA ISSUES CALL FOR TECHNICAL PAPERS FOR CABLE 2002 TO BE HELD MAY 5-8 IN NEW ORLEANS

WASHINGTON, DC -- Summaries of proposed technical papers of interest to the broadband cable engineering community are being sought by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association in preparation for Cable 2002, NCTA's 51st Annual Convention and International Exposition.

Topics of particular interest include: advancements in digital and optical broadband technology with special interest in broadband server architecture, national-scale distributed computer networking, transactional bandwidth management, networked home technology, and other advanced broadband technology topics.

Summaries of proposed technical papers are due December 10, 2001, and will be judged by a panel of NCTA Engineering Committee members. Judging will be based on reference value in the context of operations and design problem-solving treatments. Product pitches and previously published works will not be considered. Multiple entries from a system, manufacturer or individual are acceptable.

Selected authors must create camera-ready manuscripts by March 4, 2002, and authors must be prepared to give a 15 to 20-minute oral presentation at Cable 2002 based on their paper's key concepts.

Cable 2002, to be held in New Orleans May 5-8, 2002, will feature an eight-session technical program as well as availability of the 2002 NCTA Technical Papers. The technical papers, the 43rd volume of the conference series, will be sold at the convention and thereafter through NCTA.

Prospective authors interested in preparing and presenting a technical paper at Cable 2002 should submit a brief summary via e-mail to [email protected] no later than December 10, 2001. Proposal Submission Forms are available at cable2002.com beginning November 1 - just click the "Call for Papers" button at the top.
