Joanna McIntosh to Join NCTA as Senior Vice President for Government Relations

Joanna McIntosh, a veteran government affairs executive with two decades experience representing entertainment, telecommunications and technology companies and organizations, has been named Senior Vice President for Government Affairs for NCTA – The Internet & Television Association.

In this role, she will lead NCTA’s government affairs operation and be a critical member of the organization’s and industry’s advocacy before Congress and the Administration. McIntosh comes to NCTA from MPAA where she has served as Executive Vice President for Global Policy and External Affairs since 2014.

McIntosh will join NCTA in September and report to Michael Powell, President & CEO of NCTA – The Internet & Television Association. She replaces Rita Lewis who recently stepped down to a part-time role at the association.

As part of the transition, Cliff Riccio, NCTA Vice President and Senior Legislative Strategist, will be elevated to serve as deputy of the Government Relations department. Riccio has worked in government relations for NCTA since 2001 and has been a significant contributor to NCTA’s advocacy efforts.

“I’m thrilled to have such a well-regarded and expert advocate as Joanna join NCTA,” Powell said. “Her extensive experience and knowledge of the issues that are critical to this industry and the American economy will help ensure that we remain an effective and constructive voice in Washington, D.C. I’m equally excited to have Cliff take on a bigger leadership role at NCTA. Joanna and Cliff will be a great leadership team.”

Before MPAA, McIntosh worked in federal government relations at Verizon from 2005 – 2014 and served as General Counsel for the G8 Summit hosted by President George W. Bush in 2003 – 04. She also has previous experience at the Markle Foundation and AT&T. She holds a JD from The George Washington University Law School and is a graduate of Rhodes College.
