Two veteran and beloved executives of NCTA – The Internet & Television Association (NCTA), who are members of the association’s senior staff, have announced their plans to depart the association for retirement. Jadz Janucik, Senior Vice President of Association Affairs, and Barbara York, Senior Vice President, Industry Affairs, will retire from NCTA this fall. They both report to NCTA President & CEO Michael Powell.
"Jadz and Barbara are great leaders who have had immense impact on NCTA and our industry,” said Powell. “They truly represent the collaborative, entrepreneurial, and innovative spirit of our business, and they've helped mold the vibrant industry we represent today. We’re deeply indebted to them for their passion and commitment, and we wish them well in the days ahead.”
Janucik, who departs after October 13, has served nearly 41 years with NCTA. She has been recognized with numerous honors throughout the course of her career, including being named as a Multichannel News Wonder Woman, a recipient of the Touchstones of Leadership Inspire Award from the Women in Cable Telecommunications Washington, DC / Baltimore Chapter, and being inducted into the Virginia Cable Hall of Fame and as a Cable Television Pioneer. Janucik has led NCTA teams organizing grassroots activities to support federal initiatives, tracking telecommunications policy at the state level, and collaborating with the many regional and state cable trade associations that support the industry. She also has managed major coalitions supporting industry policy objectives and overseen NCTA State Government Affairs and the association’s Membership Services division.
York, who departs after November 3, is a 36-year NCTA veteran, best known for her leadership of NCTA’s trade shows for 35 consecutive years. She and her team also have managed a wide variety of NCTA events and activities, ranging from board meetings to industry conferences, to the creation and maintenance of the association’s headquarters innovation display area, to the move of NCTA headquarters from DuPont Circle to Capitol Hill over a decade ago. York also has been honored numerous times, including as a CableFax top minority in cable, Multichannel News Wonder Woman, Television Week Television Executive of the Year, and induction into the Cable Center Cable Hall of Fame and as a Cable Television Pioneer. During her NCTA career, York also served as the association’s Chief Administrative Officer, and as Executive Director of the National Academy of Cable Programming, responsible for the production of more than a dozen National and Local CableACE Awards programs.
Both women have served on a wide variety of cable industry association boards throughout their careers and have been involved in many community service and public affairs activities.
