Alliance for Women in Media Foundation Announces NCTA as Title Sponsor for 2012 Symposia Series

MCLEAN, VA – The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) is pleased announce that the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) will be the Title Sponsor of the 2012 AWMF Symposia Series. This in-depth media series will call attention throughout the year to critical issues that continue to affect women in media today.

"The Alliance for Women in Media is a key player in developing networking, professional development, and personal growth opportunities for women across all media," noted Christina Anderson, Vice President of Online Strategy for NCTA and a member of the AWM National Board of Directors. "Professional development and lifelong learning are critically important to women cable executives, as they are to all women in media. That's why we at NCTA strongly support this Symposia series and its focus on diversity, career advancement, and financial literacy."

The AWMF Symposia Series kicks off March 29, 2012, with the Symposium on Diversity: Defining Different in a Changing Society in Washington, D.C. The event will take place at Discovery Communications headquarters and will feature keynotes delivered by Eileen O'Neill, Group President, Discovery and TLC Networks, and David Porter, Jr., Executive Director, Walter Kaitz Foundation. Panelists will discuss strategies of women who have created successful media careers, generational diversity, and how to develop and promote your professional brand.

AWMF will continue to bring together media's leading experts and innovators to share their experience and insights with media professionals in major cities across the county. In September, AWMF will host Signature: Building the Brand That Is You in Minneapolis, MN. AWMF's November event will address SHEconomics: Money, Market and Message in New York, NY.

"The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation appreciates NCTA's support of our 2012 Symposia Series, as well as its consistent investment in and promotion of AWMF programs and initiatives," stated AWMF President Erin M. Fuller. "Through events such as these Symposia, AWMF brings women in media together to empower career development, engage in thought leadership and drive positive change for our industry."
