The FCC has voted to adopt an “Open Internet” Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM.

The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) announced today that The Cable Show 2010 will be held May 11-13, 2010, as part of “Cable Connection - Spring” in Los Angeles. The 59th annual convention and international exposition, the cable industry’s premiere U.S. event, will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center and the neighboring Nokia Theater.

To help increase awareness and education about the H1N1 virus, the cable industry is working to assist the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in distributing video public service announcements (PSAs) promoting the prevention and awareness of “swine flu” and other forms of the flu.

Over the past three months, the Broadband for America (BfA) coalition has grown to nearly 100 members ranging from independent consumer advocacy groups, to content and application providers, to the companies which build and maintain the Internet. Together these organizations represent the hundreds of millions of Americans who are literally connected through broadband. The new alliance is uniquely focused on getting broadband Internet access to every household and business in the nation. 

The Senate Judiciary Committee has passed S. 1670, Satellite Television Modernization Act of 2009.

FCC chairman Julius Genachowski has proposed adding two new Internet-access principles to the existing four, and will begin the process of codifying all of them with a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking at the agency's October meeting.
