Washington, D.C. -- Adelphia Communications has notified the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) that effective immediately, Erland E. Kailbourne, Chairman and Interim CEO, Adelphia Communications, will assume the company’s seat on the NCTA Board of Directors.

Adelphia's action was communicated in a letter to Michael Willner, president and CEO, Insight Communications, Inc., and chairman of the NCTA Board. Adelphia’s seat on the NCTA Board previously was held by John J. Rigas, Adelphia’s former Chairman, President and CEO.

NCTA is the principal trade association of the cable television industry in the United States. NCTA represents cable operators serving more than 90 percent of the nation's cable television households and more than 200 cable program networks, as well as equipment suppliers and providers of other services to the cable industry.
